When you’re out on your own, and something goes wrong, it can be unnerving. There may be no one to turn to for help, or you may not know who to ask for assistance. For example, if you get lost in a strange place or have a car accident, it is advisable to put emergency contacts on your Samsung Android lock screen. This way, in case of an emergency, people around you will be able to access your information and give you the aid that you need.
This can be especially helpful if you are involved in an accident like say, a car crash and lose consciousness. You should always ensure that there is a way for authorities to contact your loved ones and let them know your situation.
Equally important is that first responders also have access to your medical history. This is very critical especially if you suffer from any allergies or require any kind of special first aid. Having the right information at the onset, helps first responders to be able to give you the right medical treatment and to ensure that there are no complications otherwise.

How does Emergency SOS on Android work?
First, go into your Settings app on your Samsung mobile and then select Safety and emergency. You’ll see seven options:
Medical Info – Select this option to edit and store all your medical information. You can store your Allergies, current medications, Blood type, and any other information that you deem necessary.
Emergency Contacts – This option allows you to select contacts, who you want to put as emergency contacts. You can choose from frequently contacted contacts or any other contact from your phone book.
Wireless emergency alerts– Enabling this option, will allow you to receive emergency alerts from the authorities. You can get real-time alerts such as AMBER alerts, Extreme threats, and Severe threats.
Emergency Location Service- Enable this option to send your location along with the emergency call or text placed by you.
Silence notifications while driving- By toggling ON this option, your mobile will automatically turn on Do Not Disturb (DND) mode, while driving. This will silence all calls and text alerts and notifications.
Emergency mode- Selecting this mode, puts your mobile into emergency mode. This will turn your Home Screen to Dark mode, in order to use less battery. It will also restrict access to other third-party apps and features. You will only be able to use Messages, Contacts, and Emergency Calls.
Panic Mode– Press the Power key 3 times quickly. This will place a call to your emergency services. You can also set it so, that it also sends an SOS message to your emergency contacts, along with your location.
Note- You must toggle ON in Send SOS messages.
In some countries and regions, you might need to choose the service that you need. For example, in China mainland, you can choose which emergency service needs to be notified- police, fire, or ambulance.
